Synopsis: Bucarest, 1988. Begins a darkly humourous parable, a story about Romania as told through Nela’s destiny.
After her father dies, refusing to submit to the political and social climate tearing apart from her country, Nela leaves for a teaching post in a provincial city.
There she meets Mitica, a doctor at the local hospital, who like Nela, is full of dreams and optimism.
The couple’s natural rebelliousness disturbs everyone they encounter as they survive harshness of reality, their love takes on true strength under an oak tree, symbol of tradition, eternity and hope which could become the Romania of tomorrow.
